Established in 2000, Savvy Media is a multi-media publishing firm that specializes in targeting the needs of secondhand shoppers in British Columbia. Savvy Media's first venture includes the launch of secondhandsavvy.com, first in British Columbia and then eventually across Canada.

Savvy Media intends to make secondhandsavvy.com the ultimate source of information on secondhand shopping in British Columbia by creating an on-line community of secondhand vendors and shoppers, while also increasing awareness and enthusiasm for secondhand shopping.

Savvy Media's founder, Jo-Anne Lauzer, has been an avid secondhand shopper for many years, but only as a passionate pastime. It was not until she completed an intensive publishing program at the Canadian Centre for Studies in Publishing in Vancouver, that she decided to transform her weekend hobby into a viable business venture. From this came the creation of Savvy Media and the birth of secondhandsavvy.com.

The main features of this site include:

• The largest and most accessible directory of secondhand shopping information in British Columbia.
• An online magazine that will focus on content that is directly relevant to secondhand shoppers.
• A free classifieds section where people will be able to buy and sell secondhand goods.
• A special section for free garage sale listings.
• Free listings of related events (e.g., school bazaars, thrift sales, swap meets, collectible shows, etc.).
• An electronic newsletter. One for secondhand shoppers and one for the vendors.
